Chuck Van Arsdale Time Trial-
May 2, 2007
We finally got a fast night to time trial, and everyone put down some very nice times, and a few PR’s. I had to adjust a few finishing times from last night, as some were different than announced. It was time to fire up the 40k for the year, and we had 7 riders willing to suffer for two laps. Jeff Shroetlin took it easy on the other riders, and instead of crushing us, chose merely to whup us with a 55:55 @ 26.61mph. Andrew Young rounded out the 2-lap field with a nice early season 1:10:13 @ 21.19mph.
Mark Jones was our fastest 20k rider, and he ran a time of 30:48 @ 24.16mph. Beth McClure was our fastest and only female last night, and posted a time of 34:18 @ 21.69mph. Last fall, Bill Weiss was on his way to topping the 20mph mark, but ran out of TT’s as the season ended. He’s now looking at topping 21mph after riding to a fine 35:54 @ 20.72mph last night. Mark McClure grabbed a PR with a 36:08 @ 20.59mph. Mike Doyle set a personal record with a 36:21 @ 20.47, and Alex King finished with the 4th PR of the night, a 37:06 @ 20.05mph. Raffle winners last night were Jeff Schroetlin and Tom Anderson.
There were a lot of awards picked up by area athletes at the Sullivan Triathlon last Sunday. I want to mention the top finishers, but you can see the full results at http://www.sullivanil.us/Tri07Results.htm Jessica Aveyard took the Women’s overall title, setting a new course record in the process. Kim Genenbacher finished 2nd overall, making it a 1-2 for the Decatur girls. Bloomington Tri-Shark Chris Sweet finished 2nd overall in the men’s division, setting a great sub-hour time. Age group winners were Beth McClure, Chris Daniels, Anna Stadler, and Brock Bales. Earl May took the free entry donated last year by the Sullivan Civic Center, entered a team into the triathlon, and came away with the #1 spot. Congrats to Earl, our timer Melinda Petersen, and John Flick. Thanks also to Monte Johnson and Sue Weaver for putting on a great event. Thanks to our timers last night, Helene and Melinda, and thanks for supporting the TT series.
