Some warmer temperatures and a light northwest breeze greeted 16 riders last Thursday at the new Harristown course.  We were joined by two first timers as Deb Walters and Tony Curcio came down from Clinton, guests of Chad Pond.  By the way, Chad is moving out of state so we're losing another fast rider.  Good luck, Chad.  Bob and Dave Clary came down from Bloomington to check out the new course, and judging from their times and the smiles on their faces, they liked it.  Each of their names have been consistently at the top of the triathlon results this season.  We recorded splits at the turn around this time just to see which direction was faster.  Most riders rode the second half faster by a 2:1 margin, except for Chuck VanArsdale who rode the exact speed each direction.  Deb Walters was our raffle winner, and Schroetlin (yawn) was our fastest rider.  Be sure to make it out this week as the rain is supposed to clear by Thursday morning.  Also, we should try to be at the start line by 6:00 because we're losing daylight quickly these days.  Some facts from last week:

  • 16 riders
  • 3 women
  • fastest time - 27:31@27.03mph
  • average 10K speed - 21.94
  • average 20K speed - 21.98
  • 5 riders rode the 1st half faster
  • 10 riders rode the 2nd half faster
  • 1 rider rode both halves the same speed
